A couple injured in a 2013 car accident is suing the other driver who was allegedly responsible for the crash.
Virgil and Margaret Williams filed a complaint July 23 in Madison County Circuit Court against Deborah Pruett.
At 3:30 p.m. Aug. 6, 2013, Virgil Williams was driving a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire north on North Bluff Road near West Belt Line Road in Collinsville, while Pruett was driving her 2010 Ford F150 truck south on the same road and trying to turn left onto West Belt Line Road. Margaret Williams was a passenger of Virgil Williams when Pruett turned left and allegedly caused a crash, the lawsuit states.
The defendant is cited with negligence for failing to keep her vehicle under control, brake in time to avoid a crash, steer her vehicle to avoid a crash, turn left at a safe time to do so, and yield the right of way.
As a result, Virgil Williams suffered injuries to his back, and his wife suffered injuries to her left wrist and sternum, as well as the couple suffering pain and suffering, and medical expenses.
The plaintiffs seek damages of more than $100,000, plus costs.
The plaintiff is represented by Samuel A. Mormino Jr. of Mormino, Velloff and Snider PC in Alton.
Madison County Circuit Court case number 15L929.
