BELLEVILLE — A couple's lawsuit against GNS LLC, d/b/a Shady's, accuses the Summerfield tavern operator of violating the Dram Shop Act by unlawfully selling alcohol to an intoxicated person.

John Doe and Jane Doe filed a complaint on Nov. 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against GNS LLC d/b/a Shady's alleging that the tavern operator violated the Dram Shop Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Nov. 14, 2015, as a result of Kevin White's intoxication and inability to control his actions, plaintiffs sustained injuries resulting in pain and suffering, loss of income, loss of consortium and medical expenses. The plaintiffs hold the defendant responsible for alleged negligence in serving alcohol to an intoxicated White.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant in an amount consistent with this cause of action, plus costs of this suit.

They are represented by Gregory L. Shevlin of Cook, Ysura, Bartholomew, Brauer & Shevlin Ltd. in Belleville.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number 16-L-596
