Judy Broshaw filed the suit April 14 in Madison County Circuit Court against My Nails Salon and Fion Chan, the salon manager.
On Aug. 19, 2014, the suit alleges,
an employee of My Nails Salon placed a blue liquid on the plaintiff's
feet during a pedicure. The liquid caused immediate
irritation to the plaintiff's skin, according to the complaint.
The defendants committed the following allegedly negligent acts, according to the suit: failing to properly sanitize all pedicure-related items, applying the liquid directly to the client's feet when it should have been diluted, failing to perform the pedicure in accordance with written policies and procedures, and failing to perform it in accordance with industry standards.
Also according to the complaint, defendant Chan failed to properly train and supervise the employee who performed the pedicure.
As a result, the plaintiff is alleged to have experienced burns to both feet, permanent disfigurement, pain and suffering, and medical expenses.
The plaintiff seeks judgment in excess of $50,000 plus court costs. She is represented by Gregory S. Motil of Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson in Alton.
