EDWARDSVILLE – A financial firm is suing over allegations of non-payment for three vehicles leased by the defendant. Breach of contract is among the counts.

Dakota Financial LLC filed the suit April 15 in Madison County Circuit Court against James Doty.

On three separate occasions in 2013 and 2014, the plaintiff and defendant entered into a lease agreement for three vehicles, according to the suit, which says the defendant has allegedly not made payments to the plaintiff for those leases, so the plaintiff considers the defendant to be in default.

Pursuant to the leases, the plaintiff is entitled to money damages, according to the complaint.

As a result, the plaintiff seeks total payment on all three defaulted leases of $79,174, plus pre-judgment interest at 18% per year, attorney fees, court costs and other relief the court deems just. The plaintiff also requests the court enter an order compelling the defendant to surrender the vehicles.

The plaintiff is represented by Thomas V. Askounis and C. Randall Woolley of Askounis & Darcy PC in Chicago.
