DJL Mining LLC and Asia Global Renewable Energy Corp. filed suit April 5 in Madison County Circuit Court against Terry Zou, individually, and World Gold International Limited, which Zou owns.
DJL and World Gold entered into a purchase agreement in which the plaintiff sold low-grade copper to the defendant, the suit says, adding that in mid-2015, the defendant allegedly stopped making payments for the materials.
As of Dec. 8, 2015, the total amount due was $5,373, the suit says.
The defendant further misrepresented to a third party, using certificates of quality, the quality of the copper the plaintiff sold, which prompted a count of fraud against the plaintiff, according to the complaint. The suit alleges those certificates are forged.
The plaintiffs seek judgment for all three counts against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus interest; punitive damages in an amount to be determined later, fees and costs; and other relief the court deems proper. They are represented by Daniel C. Nester, Christopher M. Blaesing and Alan L. Schilling Jr. of Bryan Cave LLP in St. Louis.
