EDWARDSVILLE – A motorist is suing over injuries that she alleges occurred when a turning tractor-trailer caused her to stop her vehicle suddenly, followed by a rear-end collision in which another motorist struck her car. She is citing negligence.

Hannah B. Williams filed the suit April 6 in Madison County Circuit Court against Jonathan Warner, Robert Piernik and General Electric International Inc.

On April 8, 2014, the plaintiff was driving her vehicle southbound on Highway 111 near its intersection with Timberlake Drive in Granite City, the suit alleges, when Piernik, who was driving a tractor-trailer for General Electric, turned left in front of her car. Defendant Warner was driving his vehicle behind the plaintiff's, the suit claims.

The suit alleges that the plaintiff had to stop suddenly because of Piernik's actions, and then her vehicle was struck from behind by the car driven by Warner.

The alleged negligence by defendant Warner includes failing to keep a proper lookout, failing to brake to avoid a collision, and failing to maneuver his vehicle to avoid the collision.

The plaintiff's injuries as a result of the collision include those to numerous parts of her body, pain and anguish, continuing medical bills, lost wages and damage to her future earning capacity, the suit says.

The plaintiff seeks judgment from each defendant in excess of $50,000 plus court costs and other relief the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Ronald J. Foster Jr. of Walton Telken Foster LLC in Edwardsville.
