A couple is suing a fast-food restaurant alleging premises negligence in a 2013 in-store slip and fall which the plaintiffs claim resulted in injuries.
Donald Robinson and Jean Robinson filed a lawsuit July 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against White Castle System Inc. of Illinois on charges of negligence in the September 2013 accident.
According to the complaint, the Robinsons were customers at the 1620 Camp Jackson Road branch of the business in the village of Cahokia on or about Sept. 24, 2013. The suit states that the defendant’s employees negligently allowed a slippery, liquid, foreign, and/or watery substance to remain on the floor surface after mopping the floor.
The couple claims that White Castle knew or should have known of the hazard and taken steps to correct it; that the company failed to maintain a safe environment or warn the plaintiffs, and that it installed an inappropriate type of flooring that took too long to dry.
Donald Robinson specified injuries to his knees, ankles, left foot and “other body parts.” Claiming medical expenses, pain and anguish, and loss of a normal life, the Robinsons seek judgment in their favor for more than $50,000 plus attorney’s fees and costs. They are represented by Steven Katzman of Katzman & Sugden in Belleville.
