East St. Louis Police officer allegedly ran man down with car

ST. CLAIR COUNTY— A man is suing the East St. Louis Police Department after he was injured in an incident allegedly caused by the reckless driving of an officer.

Nicholas Pearson filed a complaint on Dec. 22 in the Circuit Court in St. Clair County against the East St. Louis Police Department and Officer Andre Williams.

Pearson was driving his vehicle on Aug. 19, 2015 when he allegedly was cut off by  Williams' car. Startled by the action, Pearson pulled over and fled from his car. Williams allegedly proceeded to chase the plaintiff down in his patrol car, hitting Pearson with his vehicle. The accident allegedly caused Pearson to be severely injured, and negatively affected his enjoyment of life and his physical abilities. He is suing the defendant for negligence and recklessness.

Pearson is seeking compensation for all damages suffered, both financial and physical. He is represented by Jarrod P. Beasley of Kuehn, Beasley and Young PC in Belleville.
